Capital, St. George’s
St. George’s harbour is regarded as one of the prettiest in the Caribbean.
Formed from a crater of a volcano. Georgian architecture,
wrought-iron balconies and elegant fish-scale roof tiles
captures the essence of this once British and French city.
On Church Street stands the Roman Catholic Cathedral,
dating back to 1884. On the opposite side is Parliament
Building together with the Supreme Court. Lower down on
your left is the Anglican Church (1825) and on the other side
of Church Street, on Grand Etang Road is the Presbyterian Church.
Many historical buildings were damaged during the passage
of Hurricane Ivan on September 7th 2004.
